Im moving to a new school!

I just got a spot in a closer location at the same school that I go to. Thats good for travel time. However I will miss all my friends!! Heres a video of a performance by my Fishies class last year.It is a pretty cool video shot by my friends daddy. Im hiding somewhere behind the teachers.

I was moved to the Bears class as I outgrew the Fishies, and my friends Maya and Isa moved with me. Yay! We love our new teachers. The lovingly call us the "Three Musketeers"! Here are our pictures from the "end of summer picnic"


This summer Aariv went to summer school in the big kids class in my daycare. It was so much fun playing with the bunny "sprout" in his class. The first day I tried to get too close to him he snapped at me, so I complain pointing to the bunny each time I see it and watch it from a distance.

I have been moving aroud a lot and having a lot of acidents of lately. I recently slipped a step in the small staircase in our apartment and tubbled down. Mom caught me before I hit the floor but it was a very scary experience for me and everyone at home. I have a big bruise on my nose. After I get a wound I go "nosh vaagu" or "kneesh vagu" and point to the body part. Last week NYC area had a big advisory for "Hurricaine Irene" and since we are buy the riverfront we had evacuated and gone to Kaki-Kakas place. We were all confined indoors for a day which was quite a challenge. Luckily the hurricaine lost its force and we didnt feel it much beyond some flooding on the streets. Whew!

And Ive been doing great on potty training. I have days when I have an accident or so, but I usually can hold up if I need to go pee and if we are in the car or on the highchair or such. I still use diapers at night and naps.

18 months old!

I am now so good at walking. I love to get out of the elevator and run towards our apartment, imitating Aariv. It seems i need to re-learn my name. Now ehevener you ask me "whats your name?" I reply "Aaruuuu!" and I need to be taught to say Anaya.

I love my school and am very cheerful and am singing different tunes everyday in the car or when I am at home. I still wont eat unless I am feeding myself and unless you foorget to give me Yogurt with my lunch I have no issues.

I have got much more mobile and my favorite new activity is trying to climb up the very high back of the armchair in our living room which gets the adults super anxious. My mommy used to give me my milk in my sippy cup in bed but a recent trip to the dentist stopped that. Now I drink my milk shortly after dinner, brush and then go to bed. I loove books and sometimes I just look at a book on my own before going to bed. Aariv gets to read a book with mommy or papa but I am usually fast asleep by then. This is life for a second sibling!

We had an easter egg hunt in school and the easter bunny came over to my school and hopped around with us in the park. The weather is nice and we also went out and picked some leaves and flowers for an art project which we will be making in som days.

"Whats your name?" Ayaya!

Yess I have started talking. I have conversations with people that talk to me. I respond to everything in 1-word sentenses and if you ask me the same question again I will respond with the same word- trust me I am pretty consistent with my thoughts :) I repeat single words that you teach me.

I will raise my butt, extend my hands out to balance and stand up as soon as you ask me to. And I am doing a much better job with my walking skills. When my mama visited me last weekend he made me stand up and walk quite a bit, and ever since I have been attempting to try some walking everyday.

My brother is the love of my life - I was home sick yesterday so I hung out with nani and nana. I didnt eat much all day. But when Aarubhai got a muffin with him when he got back from school I ate most of it! And I was soo hapy to see him- I hugged him, kept smiling and laughing and was all over him.

I love my friends. I went late to school today as I woke up too early and then napped right after breakfast. So mom took me to school late. I was super excited to go. When I saw my friends I started laughing and pointing at each of them. I saw my friend Maya and went Maya and reached out to caress her cheek. She responded Ayaya with a big smile.

My nani and nana are visiting me and are in total awe of my independence. I will never eat if you feed me. It is so good having them to play with everyday.

I'm all of 1!

Hi! I had two celebrations on my first birthday- in school and a party at home with my loved ones. At school mommy got cup cakes for all my friends and all of us ate our cupcakes. I finished my first one in no time and got a second helping. Mom was in awe of all of us finishing our cupcakes. Aariv joined us too and i also had Kayra didi and Amayra baby join us in the cake cutting. Amayra did pretty well with her cupcake too. I was surprised to hear the etachers sing my name and it all happened too fast for me to react :) I was just happy with my cupcake.

 

The birthday party in our building clubroom was nice. I had a few friends come in and we all had a great time. We had a lot of toys, food, games and entertainment. We played a game for the grown ups too where they were crawling rushing to clean up all the toys that were spread around the room. There was a lot of chaos, but they did a decent job for grown ups.

10 days more and I will be 1!

I crawled for a very short while and now I want to stand up as soon as I find aomething, anything to hold on to. Some favorties are my mommys or daddys legs, or chairs(I try to use them as walkers and dont like it when they dont move as easily) or even the large grocery jars I find in the foyer. I grab the jars and stand up and then find out they are not as stable and start crying for someone to rescue me!

I started going to my first school on September 2. I was upset the first 3 days or so but I was also cutting my two bottom teeth those days, so I was not happy. However come day three and I was a happy camper at school. I played with my friends and the toys there. Yesterday when mommy picked me up at school I was holding on to the railing on the bookshelf and standing up. The railings are at a perfect height for me to hold and the teacher told mommy Ive been doing this all day :)

Watch out guys - Im crawling!

Below the dining table is one of my favorite spots. I notice little bits of anything on teh floor and usually crawl and head right to it and if you are not fast enough get it into my mouth. Yesterday while Aariv was eating his cube of cheese mom wasnt fast enough and found the wrapper in my mouth.

People were thinking this may never happen but I am surprising everyone by reaching out for anything that you show me from a distance that looks attractive. Also, yesterday was my first time crawling, just in time for my first Raksha Bandhan. Now with one brother and two cousins that I will be tying rakhi to, I had to grow up a little bit.

My first trip to India

I took the longest flight of my life - 15 hours to fly to India with Aariv and mommy. It wasnt bad at all. Since I had the bassinet I was comfortable in my own space and Aariv had hos own seat. After I slept a few hours mommy put me and Aariv down in front of her seat on a beach mat with some toys. It was fun to sit up and play. The rest of the time, I ate and lay down and played with my toys in my bassinet. It was a fun flight.

Now in India I am really pampered. I have this aunty come over and take care of me all day and another aunty come over to play with me and Aariv in the evenings. I have also been more vocal, yelling out loud if you ignore me, leave or if I am in a good mood I clap my hands along. Yesterday I gave dadi a bad look when she tried to take aariv in her arms leaving me behind. Just a few days back I started sitting up from a lying down position and if a toy is beyond reach I will lie doen to reach it and sit back up. I get very proud and beam a huge smile each time I sit up. Now I wake up at about 6 am, sit up in the bed and try to call out and get Aariv's attention if he is asleep or play with him if he is up.

My dadi dada took me to a family get together where I met about 50 new people and everyone was in awe of me. I went to everyones arms and played with their glasses, necklaces or beards while Aariv slept. I was barely with my mommy that evening.
I am almost 10 months old and I will be making my first trip to my cousins in Ahmedabad and Rajkot. It will be my longest train ride, more firsts!
